Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2025
Introduction
Pin Link Grabber ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension and associated website (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide and improve our Service:
- Email Address: Collected at checkout (Stripe or PayPal) to deliver your license key and manage your account. The free trial does not require an email address.
- License Key: A unique key generated for your account, stored locally in your browser's extension storage for authentication purposes.
- Device Fingerprint: When the free trial starts, the extension sends a hashed, non-identifying fingerprint of your device's hardware and browser settings (screen size, platform, language, graphics renderer, etc.) to our server. It is used solely to enforce the one-free-trial-per-device rule and cannot be used to identify you personally.
- Payment Information: Processed securely by third-party providers (Stripe and PayPal). We do not store your credit card details or PayPal credentials on our servers.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your license key and account.
- To validate your license when using the extension.
- To process payments through our third-party payment providers.
- To communicate important account-related information (e.g., license key delivery).
- To detect and prevent unauthorized use or abuse of the Service.
Data the Extension Accesses
The Pin Link Grabber extension operates on Pinterest pages to provide its core functionality. Specifically, the extension:
- Reads Pinterest page content to extract pin URLs, engagement metrics (saves, likes, shares, comments), and creation dates that are already publicly visible on the page.
- Stores your license key locally in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local) so you don't need to re-enter it each time.
- Communicates with our API server for license validation and to register your free trial (a hashed device fingerprint) so the trial can only be used once per device.
The extension does not collect, transmit, or store any data you extract from Pinterest. All extracted data remains entirely local on your device until you choose to export it.
Data Storage & Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Your account information is stored securely in Firebase Firestore with strict access rules — no direct client access is permitted.
- All data transmission between the extension, website, and our servers occurs over HTTPS (SSL/TLS encryption).
- Payment processing is handled entirely by PCI-compliant third parties (Stripe and PayPal).
- We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe Privacy Policy
- PayPal — Payment processing. PayPal Privacy Policy
- Google Firebase — Database and backend services. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Vercel — Website and API hosting. Vercel Privacy Policy
Cookies
Our website does not use cookies for tracking purposes. The extension uses Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local) to store your license key and preferences — this is not a cookie and is not shared with any website.
Data Retention
We retain your account information (email and license key) for as long as your license is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your data from our systems within 30 days.
The free trial is limited to one per device. When the trial starts, a hashed device fingerprint is registered on our servers to prevent the trial from being restarted by reinstalling the extension or clearing browser data. The fingerprint is a non-identifying hash of machine-level settings and is not linked to your email address unless you later purchase a license.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You can request that we correct any inaccurate data.
- Deletion: You can request that we delete your account and associated data.
- Data Portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address below.
Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
